Project Groups

Each year, each class has a project which they work on. These are designed to show pupils how they can do something to change the world for the better. They might be focusing on a local project or something more widely.
We are Always Learning and always making a difference.
Robin
Nightingale
Nightingale class are learning about the impact of single-use plastic on the environment. We have started off learning about the journey of waste and the advantages and disadvantages of plastic. Over the year we will be carrying out surveys, preparing presentations and considering ways to make the school even more environmentally friendly.
Skylark
Swift
This year, in Swift class, we are looking at how to become leaders and support with lunch and break times. We are exploring fun games to play with younger pupils and looking at conflict resolutions with issues which could arise at these times. Pupils are gaining confidence in dealing with these issues and reflecting on their own play to ensure they model good playing skills.
Peregrine
Kingfisher
Sparrow
Sparrow Class are now working towards the Woodland Trust Gold Award. We've been learning about why trees are so important and have been appreciating how lucky we are to have so many trees in our local environment and have been completing projects to raise awareness and protect the trees.
Jay and Woodpecker
Jay and Woodpecker Classes are taking part in the 'Lions at Large' project that will raise money for the Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospital Charity. There will be a trail on in the summer of 2025 where there will be lots of lions on display around Gloucestershire decorated by local artists. We will be aiming to raise £750 to take part and money raised by the project will go towards new cancer care facilities in Gloucestershire. We will be part of the 'Cub Club' which involves us getting a mini lion to decorate that will then go on display in an area of Gloucestershire when the large lions are out on their trail so you will all be able to go and visit the St White's lion! It will then return home to us at St White's and we will get to keep it at school forever.

Heron

Here is what past project groups have been involved in!
Swift 2023-2024
In Swift, we were trying to make our schools grounds better by improving the school pond. We had the support of the site supervisor in clearing the site thanks to letters that we wrote. The Forest Rangers came to support us with our project.
We were also lucky enough to go and see beavers released into the forest.
Peregrine 2023-2024
We were the Peregrine Charity Committee. It was our job to organise all of the charity events for the school for the year. This involved us having to write letters to parents and staff as well as writing articles for the newsletter. This year, we supported The Royal British Legion, Children in Need, Comic Relief, NSPCC Number Day, the Foodbank and ran a Readathon for Read for Good.
Heron 2023-2024
In Heron, they wanted to keep the school active. They were surveying the school and parents about what we could do to improve. They applied for the Tesco Stronger Starts.
Woodpecker 2023-2024
We were working on Road Safety and wrote to the PCSOs. They came in to visit us and we checked for speeding traffic on St White's Road. A journalist came to school so we were featured in The Review! We organised a whole school road safety walk too.
